Jessica Fanzo
is the Nutrition Coordinator for the Millennium Villages Project (MVP) of the Earth Institute of Columbia University and serves as a Nutrition Specialist for the MDG Centre for East and Southern Africa in Nairobi Kenya. The MVP project offers a bold, innovative model for helping rural African communities lift themselves out of extreme poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals. She is also a Scientist for the Center for Global Health and Development. Fanzo received her PhD from the University of Arizona in Nutrition and became a Stephen I. Morse Fellow in immunology at Columbia University. Prior to joining the Earth Institute, Fanzo was a Program Officer for the Medical Research Program at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation focusing on HIV/AIDS initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa as well as clinical research programs in the United States.
