Figures 5 and 6 show the sample compositions plotted on a
ternary chart for the major component groups..
The foraminifera are relatively abrasion resistant and have a more
stable mineralogy (calcite rather than aragonite) and thus tend to
be preferentially concentrated in the subsurface sediments
(Figs. 2 B, 5 , 6 )..
