In the presence of 1.2 M sorbitol or sucrose, however, conidiophore formation of ΔAC mutants was partly remedied without severe inhibition of their hyphal growth (Fig.  4 ), although conidiophore structure remained aberrant.

We found that the presence of osmotic stabilizers partly restored conidiophore formation of the ΔAC mutants (Fig.  4 ).
