Sampling in the open waters of Winam Gulf catchments were divided
into locations (Fig. 1 ) and each location with a number of
Water samples were collected along rivers that drain into Winam
Gulf of lake Victoria namely: Auji, Saka, Kibos and Kisat
designated A, S, K and C respectively (see map in Fig. 1 ).
Most rivers are largely located in the Kisumu and Nyando districts
in the Nyanza Province of Kenya and all draining into the eastern
part of the Nyanza Gulf of Lake Victoria (see Fig. 1 ). .
