Embryonic dorsal root ganglion cultured in 2D
Description
Lumbar dorsal root ganglia (DRG) were dissected from embryonic day
14.5 (E14.5) mouse embryos. Shown is a DRG cultured on coverslips
coated with Matrigel for 48 hours in the presence of neurotrophin
NGF supporting the survival and neurite outgrowth of nociceptive
TrkA expressing sensory neurons. Neurite outgrowth is visualized by
immunostaining for neurofilament (red) and nuclei are marked by
staining for the transcription factor Islet-1 (green). Scale =
400µm. This image is a composite of projections of confocal laser
scanning microscope stacks.
